Alfred Waters

Alfred Dehaven Waters, Jr. of Jay, OK passed from this life Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Joplin, MO. He was 69.

Alfred was born December 31, 1949 in Miami, OK to Alfred and Victoria (Griffin) Waters, Sr. Before moving to Jay he lived most of his life in the Miami and Quapaw area.

Alfred served in the United State Army during Vietnam. He received his degree in Auto Body Mechanics from Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, OK. He was a member of the Quapaw and Ponca Indian Tribes and he was a member of Spring River Indian Baptist Church. Alfred was an auto mechanic for several years and then was a groundskeeper at Downstream Casino until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charlie Waters.








Alfred is survived by 3 sons, Ben Waters of Joplin, MO, Archie "Peewee" Waters and wife Christina of Tennessee Colony, TX and Alford "Budah" Waters of Jay, OK, 4 daughters, Victoria Daniels of White Oak, OK, Shannon Waters of Miami, OK, Violet Pereida and husband Mark of Jay, OK and Mary Waters of Miami, OK, 2 sisters, Billie Rice and Minnie Frances Hawk both of Quapaw, OK, 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Quapaw Tribal Building, southeast of Quapaw, OK. Oliver Littlecook will conduct Native American Rites. Interment will follow in Griffin Family Cemetery, southeast of Quapaw, OK. Ben Waters, Archie Waters, Alford Waters, Nathan Skye, Mark Pereida and Cricket Rice will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger White and David Powell. Alfred will lie in state at the Quapaw Tribal Building. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
