Forrest Hoagland

Forrest Lucas Hoagland, 75, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Forrest was born November 6, 1943 in Joplin to Frank and Maude “Lauderdale” Hoagland.

Forrest was a longtime resident of rural Joplin and rural Carthage. He graduated Joplin High School playing on both the baseball and basketball teams. He lived in Grove, OK for the past twelve years. He worked from the age of 17 to 62 years for Eagle Picher/Fibrex, retiring in management after 44 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Grove serving in many church activities including, the Thrift store, Choir membership, the Help Center and president of the Sunday School class. Forrest was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and bowled on many bowling leagues. Forrest loved to attend his family’s sporting events.

Forrest was united in marriage to Sharon Putnam at his parent’s home in Joplin on April 15, 1961 by Rev. Floyd Weston; she survives.








Forrest is also survived by two sons, Tony Lee Hoagland (Renea) of Joplin and Frankie Wayne Hoagland of Carthage; one granddaughter, Michelle Chaney and husband John; 19 nieces and nephews; three sisters Carol Adamson, Mary Dutton (Mike), and Debbie Johnson (Jerry) all of Joplin: 1 brother Frank Hoagland (Sandy) of Tucson, AZ

Forrest is preceded in death by his parents and one nephew Troy “TJ” England.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin (2827 East 32nd St.). Burial follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
