Mary Walker

Mary Kathalen Walker, age 88, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away March 7, 2020, at Cox Barton County Hospital, Lamar, with her family by her side.

Mary was born March 27, 1931 in Sarcoxie, Missouri to the late Cheslie A. Cook and Ina Marie (Roseborough) Cook. Mary graduated from Sarcoxie High School in the class of 1948.

 While on a Church outing to the Carthage Skating Rink, Mary met Leonard Calvin Walker and the two were married on April 27, 1952, in Harrison, Arkansas. Leonard preceded her in death on November 5, 1993.
Mary was a homemaker and later a kindergarten aide. She loved traveling and camping with her husband Leonard. Mary also enjoyed fishing and camping at Roaring River with the grandkids, watching them play sports and show cattle.








Survivors include three daughters; Villa Waltz and Vina Kahre both of Jasper, Missouri, and Dana (Kenny) Owen, Lamar, Missouri, two brothers; Wendell "Chick" Cook, Yuba City, California, and Robert "Bob" (Barbara) Cook, Carl Junction, Missouri, six grandchildren; Jason (Tandi) Owen, Forney, Texas, Lynsey (Chris) Coleman, Edmond, Oklahoma, Ryann (Jason) Cummings, Tuttle, Oklahoma, Allison (Cody) Kreifels, St. Joseph, Missouri, Brad (Jama) Waltz and Amie Primm all of Jasper, eleven great-grandchildren; Jaxson Owen, Raelynn, Corban and Barrett Coleman, Dylan and Kyndell Cummings, Carter Kreifels, Kristin, Morgan and Logan Winchester, Addyson Primm and Jonathan Kohley, two great-great-grandchildren; Knox and Waylon Winchester, one brother-in-law; Charles Barnes, and two sisters-in-law; Theao Cook and Dixie Mason.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter; Verna Marlene (1953), five brothers; John, Hall, George, James, and Carl Cook, two sisters; Velma McBride and Bertha Barnes, and one son-in-law; Gary Waltz.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in IOOF/First Christian Church Cemetery, Golden City, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to Barton County Senior Citizens Center or the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
