Michael Buster

Michael Lee Buster, 64, of Nixa, MO passed away on March 6, 2020 at his home. He was born on April 29, 1955 in Carthage, MO to Martha Mildred (Baker) Buster and Elmer Junior Buster.
Mike attended Green Grove Country School for grades 1-8, and Carthage Junior High; he graduated in 1973 from Carthage High School. Although he worked on hay crews and at Schreiber’s Cheese in the summer, his favorite activities were hunting and fishing.He attended First Christian Church with his family and was baptized at Cyokamo Church Camp when he was 11.

Mike received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Missouri Southern State in Accounting in 1977 with a minor in Information Technology. He was inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in Economics.

Mike served in federal service for 33 years in Information Technology, with the Department of Army 1977-83 and with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 1983-2010. In later years, he enjoyed serving as the FDA Chief Technology Officer and managing FDA’s nationwide network system.
Mike lived in Davenport, IA, White Hall, AR, and Columbia, MD. He retired in 2010 to Nixa, MO.
He met his wife, Brenda, in an Information Technology Intern Program. They married in 1979 in Laurel, MD and recently celebrated 40 years together. They have a daughter, Sarah Buster of Memphis, TN.








Mike is survived by his wife, his daughter, his brother Joe Buster of Carthage, his sister Marti Burkhart (Roger) of Neosho, nephew Adam Buster (Nikki) of Webb City, nieces Christi Miller (Ashley) of Stockton, KS, Tana Sikes (Kyle) of Neosho, and Alaina Main (Phillip) of Neosho. He is also survived by long-time friend Tom Swarens.

He is preceded in death by his father Junior Buster in 2003 and his mother Martha Buster in 2006.

Visitation will be held at Weng Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from12:30 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Fasken Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at The Springs Church in Springfield on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations are suggested to The Missions Fund, The Springs Church, Springfield, MO;Integrity Home Care and Hospice;or The Alzheimer’s Association.
