Mike Burleson

George Michael “Mike” Burleson, age 69, Webb City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.

Mike was born April 3, 1950 and was raised by his grandparents, Anna and George Hill, who preceded him in death. Numerous aunts and uncles contributed to his upbringing by getting him involved in sports and taking him to the lake, which he enjoyed throughout his life. He graduated from Carterville High School in 1968 (the last graduating class of that school).

After high school Mike served in the United States Army, and later returned to this area where he worked with multiple manufacturing facilities. Most recently, he worked as a manager at Play Power in Monett. He was an active member of Carterville Christian Church where he first attended with his grandmother at a young age. He later served as an elder and earned the title “Mr. Mike the Gummy Man”. Mike handed out gummies to all the kids after service each Sunday.









He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl A. Sparlin Burleson, whom he married on October 3,1969 in Webb City; son, Dennis Burleson of Joplin; daughter, Carmen Walker and husband Scott Walker of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Hope Walker, Lukas Walker, Libby Walker, Brayden Burleson, Samuel Burleson, and Tyler Burleson.

Other family includes: brother, David Reynolds, who is deceased; and surviving brother, Kenneth Burleson; sisters, Ann Easton, Terri Brown, and Sandy Reynolds

Memorial service will be Saturday. March 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Carterville Christian Church with Pastor Robin Sigars officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
