Alma spent 26 years as an Army wife, making a home for her family in eleven different states and Puerto Rico. She was the mother of four children and she instilled a strong ethic in her children. Following their retirement in 1990, they relocated to Neosho and her husband, Bill assumed a teaching position at McDonald County High School. She loved to do genealogy, being outdoors, and she had collected many rocks from the different areas they had lived. She was a devout Christian Woman and when feeling well, she attended services at the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church where she was well loved among the congregation.

Alma and William 'Bill' Lenz were married on September 14, 1963 in Craig, Colorado and they shared 56 years together.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, William P. Lenz of Kansas City, Kansas, Anita J. Lenz of Leavenworth, Kansas, Deborah A. Lenz of Lawrence, Kansas and Michael (Michelle) Lenz of Las Vegas Nevada and a granddaughter, Gina. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Erma.
