Mrs. Helen Robertson, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at her home in the Peters Prairie community of Delaware County, Oklahoma at 6:45 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2020.
Helen Katheryn (Barnes) Robertson, daughter of Oler and Augusta (Darrow) Barnes, was born December 11, 1924 in Beaty, Arkansas.
Helen married Marshall Willard Robertson in Neosho, Missouri on November 10, 1942. In their nearly sixty wonderful years of marriage, they raised five children, all of whom survive: Sandra Berry and late husband, Bill, of Grove, Oklahoma, Virginia Womack and husband, Tom, of Southwest City, Missouri, Marsha Poore and husband, Richard, of Neosho, Missouri, Darrel Robertson and wife, Carol, of Jay, Oklahoma and Patsy Bero of Miami, Oklahoma. Helen and Marshall were also blessed with nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Willard Robertson; her parents; three brothers, Wilber Emmit Barnes, Francis Jackson Barnes and William Andrew Barnes; and a grandson, Toby Darrel Robertson.
Helen was a member of the Southwest City First Baptist Church. She made a tremendous impact on her community as a Sunday School Teacher, at Peters Prairie Baptist Church and Southwest City First Baptist Church. Sunday dinners, family gatherings and holiday celebrations were always cherished memories for Helen and Marshall. These memorable traditions are still being continued by their children and grandchildren.
Helen enjoyed a variety of hobbies including crocheting, quilt making and crafting. She looked forward to sending birthday and Christmas cards to every member of her family, as well as friends. She spent many hours, weeks and months compiling photo albums and memory books of genealogy that are treasured by her family. She also loved competitive game of dominos with family and friends.
Graveside services for the immediate family are 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2020 at Polson Cemetery with Richard Hart and JR Morgan officiating. Friends may pay their respects on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
