Mary Russell

Mary Dell Russell, 84, Diamond, Missouri entered into rest April 8, 2020 after a short illness.

She was born March 22, 1936 in Stark City, Missouri to Clara Lee (Haynes) and Thurman Herschel Embrey. Mary was a lifelong area resident and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Joplin. She worked as a teacher’s aide in both Cassville and Diamond schools, then was a bus driver for OATS. Mary loved being with her grandchildren and her family and caring for her sister since their parents’ passing. 

She and Edward E. Russell were married December 24, 1969 in Miami, OK and he survives. 








Mary is also survived by six children, Elaine Grundy & companion, Shane Smith of Diamond, Ed Russell, Jr. and wife, Lori of Diamond, Mary Ellen Lewis of Joplin, Margaret Eileen Pierson and husband, Dennis of Carthage, Marion Earl Frazier, and Erwin Frazier and wife, Tisha of Carthage; one brother, Larry Embrey of Batesville, AR; one sister, Patricia Embrey of Diamond; eighteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Eddie Allen Frazier; and one grandson, Austin Russell.

Graveside services will be held 3:30 pm Friday, April 10, 2020 at Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, MO with Reverend Phillip McClendon officiating. 

SPECIAL NOTE: Mandates from CDC and the State of Missouri have strongly advised against organized gatherings in order to abide by social distancing protocols. 

Family and friends are welcome to the funeral home for viewing on Thursday, April 9 from noon until 5:00 pm and on Friday, April 10 from 9:00 am until noon.
