Vernon Smith

Mr. Vernon Smith, 73, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life suddenly on Thursday evening, April 2, 2020, at his residence.



Vernon entered this life on September 25, 1946, in Anderson, Missouri, son of the late Floyd and Silva (Breckenridge) Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson. On August 29, 1964, he was united in marriage to Christine Trent and together they have shared the last fifty-five years. Vernon was a self-employed contractor throughout his life. He enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Elmer and Ernest Smith.








Vernon is survived by his wife, Christine Smith of the home; six children, Vickie Drake and husband, Will, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, Wayne Smith and wife, Cheryl, of Anderson, Mary Teague and husband, Clint, of Anderson, Tina Foster of Crocker, Missouri, Robert Smith and Lena Acklin of Wheaton, Missouri and Adam Smith and wife, Sasha, of Anderson; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert, Ralph, James and David Smith all of Anderson; two sisters, Barbara Schuler of Anderson and Mary Ann Talley of Grove; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held privately for the immediate family on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Burial will be at the Smith Family Cemetery with Wayne Smith, Robert Smith, Adam Smith, Clint Teague, Gene Smith and Carl Talley serving as pallbearers. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
