Henry Pullum

Rev. Henry Major Pullum, Sr., age 102, of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at his home with family at his side.

Henry was born August 27, 1917 in Fredrick, Oklahoma, son of the late Henry and Georgia Pullum. He was a longtime employee with Vickers, worked as a bus driver for the Joplin R VIII School District, and also worked for a couple of years with Freeman Hospital as a Door Ambassador. He was a member of the Prince Hall Masonry #149.

Rev. Pullum was proud of his Christian Faith, and served as a pastor for years at Mt. Hebron Church. He was also an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed being involved with local athletics, both playing and watching, and was a well known softball player and bowler for years in the Joplin area. In his later years, he loved watching ballgames from Little League to American Legion.










He is survived by his loving wife, Ollie Hildreth Pullum ; son, Henry M. Pullum, Jr. daughters, Pastor Deborah Powell and Joyce Pullum; several grand and great-grand children.

A Masonic Service will be held for Bro. Henry on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with family to see friends after.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Nero and Dr. Phillip McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
