Lois Bresee

Lois Lorene Bresee, 79, of Oronogo, Missouri, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 7, 2020.

Lois was born November 8, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Fav and Minnie (Cox) Bresee. Lois worked primarily as a homemaker while raising her family, but also worked for the Boots Motel in Carthage and the former Red’s CafĂ© in Joplin. She enjoyed many things in life, including shopping at rummage sales, working crossword puzzles and watching scary movies. Lois loved to cook and bake and went all out for holiday meals.

Lois was a true matriarch to her family and a natural-born leader. She loved her family with all she had and would go beyond to meet their needs. She was loved by many and will be missed beyond measure.

On May 13, 1978, Lois was united in marriage to Wesley Briggs, her life companion and best friend. He survives.








Additional survivors include their children, Verna Pettit of Alba, Betty Kunce of Carthage and Wesley Briggs, Jr., of Webb City; numerous grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Bresee, of Galena, Kansas; a special niece, Naomi McGowen, of Joplin; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carolyn; and a grandson, Charlie Gordon.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2020, at Fairview Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor John Teem, Sr., officiating. No formal visitation will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
