Joe Orler

Mr. Donald Joseph “Joe” Orler, 89, a lifelong resident of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday morning, July 1, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Carthage, Missouri, after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Joe entered this life on March 21, 1931, in Anderson, Missouri, son of the late John and Rose (Salvadore) Orler. Joe spent his entire life on the family farm east of Anderson. Farming and raising cattle was his passion in life, purchasing a new tractor to enjoy just two years ago. Joe always had a job outside of farming, retiring from the City of Neosho Water Department in 1993. In his younger years, he was an accomplished baseball player, even sparking the interest of some major league teams, including the Yankees. Joe was a veteran of the United States Navy. 








He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Orler; and three brothers, Bob, Vic and John Orler.

Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara Orler of the home; five children, Cathy Orler of Camdenton, Missouri, Robert Benjamin Orler of Brighton, Michigan, Greg Orler of Dallas, Texas, Barbee Vandergriff of Carthage, Missouri and John Orler of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 at Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to a local food bank or the American Heart Association c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
