Joe Garrett

(From Buchanan Funeral Home)

Joseph (Joe) Alan Garrett April 6, 1949 – May 15, 2026

Joseph (Joe) Alan Garrett, 77, was reunited with family in Heaven on May 15, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He spent his final days lovingly surrounded by his family.

Joe was born on April 6, 1949, to Kelly and Elizabeth (Gee Gee) Garrett in Monett, Missouri. He was the fourth of five children, his older brothers, Mike, John, and Paul, and his younger sister, Betsy. After the early passing of their father, the Garrett children were raised with great love and devotion by their mother. Joe's childhood was full of adventure and lasting memories shared with his siblings and the neighborhood pals.

A 1967 graduate of Monett High School, Joe went on to earn a degree in Secondary Education from Missouri Southern State University. He returned to Monett High School as a teacher and spent 30 dedicated years shaping young minds through his classes in history, psychology, sociology, and economics. His impact on the community runs deep, and he is still fondly remembered by countless former students as one of their favorite teachers — a distinction that says everything about the kind of man he was.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of forty-nine years, Marti (Gray). The two were set to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on July 24th, and their relationship stood as a hallmark of love and commitment for everyone who knew them. He is also survived by his son Steve and daughter-in-law Shannon, and his daughter Beth, as well as his four siblings. Grampy was the proud grandfather of six — Avrie, Linzie, Emmie, Gray, Garrett, and Jackson — and great-grandfather to Hendrix. He will be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

In his leisure time, Joe could be found in the garden, fishing, watching sporting events or playing a round of golf. Just as often, he was tinkering on a project around the house or piddling contentedly in the garage. He was an excellent cook who delighted in preparing family favorites for his children and grandchildren. But perhaps what those who loved him will remember most is his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. Joe had a gift for keeping people on their toes and never missed an opportunity to make the people around him laugh.

Joe Garrett leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience — in the family he built, the students he taught, and the community he called home for a lifetime. He was an amazing husband, father, Grampy, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Though he will be deeply missed, those who loved him take comfort in knowing that he lives on within each of them.

Services will be announced as soon as possible. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.

Sharon Jones

(From Sisco Funeral Home)

Sharon Kay Jones, 73, of Garfield, Arkansas passed away to be with the Lord on May 12, 2026.

Sharon Kay Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 24, 1953, in Benton County, Arkansas, to Levi Austin Tate and Neomia Beatrice Taylor Tate.

Sharon married the love of her life, Emery Dennis Jones, on July 26, 1969. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, kindness, and generosity. Sharon worked in Human Resources at Walmart for thirty-four years, where she formed many lasting friendships and touched countless lives with her warm spirit and caring heart. Sharon was a wonderful woman who always carried a smile and maintained a positive attitude. She rarely complained and had a personality no one could ever replace. If anyone needed help, Sharon was always the first to lend a hand. It never mattered who you were or what you needed she would do everything she could to brighten your day.

She was well known for her generous heart. If someone admired something she owned, she would often insist they take it home with them. Sharon loved sharing with others and could tell the story behind nearly every item in her home who gave it to her, who made it, or which garage or yard sale treasure it had once been. Every item held a memory, and every memory was dear to her heart. Every Sunday, Sharon prepared a full meal, and everyone was welcome. No invitation was ever needed. Family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike could gather around her table. Many Sundays, the driveway would be filled with cars, and even close family members would wonder who all the guests were. That was simply Sharon loving, welcoming, and full of joy. Sharon deeply loved her family and was blessed to be an amazing mother to three boys, a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, and a special “Gigi” to seven great-grandchildren. She made sure each of them knew the importance of church and treasured taking them yard sale shopping. From time to time, she could even be found dumpster diving alongside the grandchildren and great-grandchildren in search of hidden treasures.

Christmas was Sharon’s favorite holiday. She filled her home with beautiful decorations and multiple Christmas trees, making certain every family member had gifts, homemade pies, rolls, and plenty of love to share. As Sharon’s earthly journey came to an end, there was no doubt why Christmas meant so much to her. She held strong faith in what awaited her beyond this life and found peace in knowing she would walk through Heaven’s gates free from pain and suffering, reunited with loved ones once again. Sharon’s kindness, generosity, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Jones; her children, Jimmy Jones (Donna) of Garfield, Arkansas, Eric Jones of Seligman, Missouri, and Mark Jones (Jasah) of Garfield, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Jessie, Kamryn, Chantz, Hayven, Andi, and Jason; her siblings, Charles Ray Tate (Sharon) of Seligman, Missouri and Virginia Mae Cooper (Edwin) of Pineville, Missouri; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Austin Levi Tate and Opal Fay; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at New Prospect Baptist Church 19200 Gann Ridge Rd, Garfield, AR 72732.

Immediately following the service, dinner will be provided, and all family and friends are welcome to join and fellowship together.

Per Sharon’s request, there will be several Christmas decorations available, and she wanted each and every one of you to take something to help decorate your tree or trees at Christmas. Please accept these decorations as a small gift and token of Sharon’s love, generosity, and the joy she found in sharing with others.
