Barbara Rose

Barbara Rose passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 92 while residing at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett, Missouri. She was born on April 18, 1934, in Carthage, Missouri; the 4th daughter of seven children to the late Soliman and Ella Bishop.

She was united in marriage to Benjamin Wilbur on April 3, 1954 in Joplin, Missouri. They lived in Carthage with their three children until moving to Monett, Missouri in 1963. She and her husband opened an Upholstery shop in Monett, Missouri for a short period of time; after which she went to work at Jumping Jacks shoe factory in Monett, Missouri. She retired from there after 32 years. She was a member of the Church of God in Carthage, Missouri. She loved reading her books, doing puzzle books, and loving on her puppy dog Lou Lou. 








She attended Carthage schools in Carthage, Missouri. In 1996, Barbara married Woodrow Rose of Monett, Missouri. They, for many years, enjoyed traveling through the United States until Woody became ill with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters: Sharon Wormington-Ford of Seligman, Missouri and Nancy Obermann of Aurora, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Tressie (Patrick) Wimsatt of Cassville, Missouri, Travis Wormington of Pulaskifield, Monett, Missouri, Tara (Josh) Sparks of Seneca Missouri, Tyler Ford of the state of Florida, Natasha (Kris) Friend of Aurora, Missouri, Amanda (Cory) Stewart of Battlefield, Missouri, and Heather Obermann of Aurora, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren: Karlea (Cody) Brooks of Washburn, Missouri, Khloe (Colt) Keeling of Purdy Missouri, Kasen Holder of Pulaskifield, Monett, Missouri, Isaac Wormington of Bentonville, Arkansas, Hannah Stewart of Battlefield, Missouri, Matthew Stewart of Battlefield, Missouri, and Asher Friend of Aurora, Missouri; step-great-grandson: Tyler Wimsatt of Nixa, Missouri; two great-great-grandchildren: Briggs and Lowen Brooks of Washburn, Missouri; daughter-in-law: Tammy Wilber of Monett, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and friends that were loved dearly.

She was also treated with the utmost best care and loved by many while she resided at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett, Missouri. 








She was preceded in death by her parents: Soliman and Ella (Campbell) Bishop, one son: Robert Wilber, one great-grandson: Quazar Obermann, sisters: Lilan Herring, Rosemary Coady, Ester Stanley, Margaret McCoy; brothers: Robert Bishope and George Bishop. 

Visitation for Barbara is being held on Wednesday June 10, 2026 from 12:00p.m. to 1:30p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Graveside services are being held on Wednesday June 10, 2026 at 2:00p.m. at the Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett, Missouri with Elwyn Holder officiating.

Memorial donations in Barbara’s name may be made to Haven of the Ozarks or Lacoba Nursing Home.



Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
