Charles Oney

(From Peterson Funeral Chapel)

With heavy hearts and grateful memories, we celebrate the life of Charles Edward Oney, who passed away on Saturday, June6, 2026 at the age of 76. While our hearts mourn his passing, we give thanks for a life marked by love, service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 as a Field Medic, achieving the rank of Specialist. In this role, he faithfully cared for others, demonstrating the compassion, steadiness, and servant's heart that defined his life.

On June 7, 1969, Charles married the love of his life, Marcia Oney. Together they built a life centered on commitment, perseverance, and family - a partnership that created a lasting legacy through generations.

Charles was a hardworking provider who took great pride in his career. From 1978 to 1989, he worked at the The Ice Plant in Willard, OH. He was later transferred to Monett, MО, where he continued his work and dedication. He eventually retired in 2008 from ADF in Verona, serving as a Maintenance Manager. True to his nature, Charles was known as someone who could fix anything broken and solve any problem.

He also had a natural talent for building and repairing things. If something was broken, Charles could fix it. If something needed to be built, he could make it. He believed in doing things the right way and took pride in creating things that would last.

Outside of work, Charles loved the outdoors, especially the quiet mornings and long stories that came with fishing and hunting season. Whether the day brought success or simply a good story to tell later, he valued the peace and memories that came with it.

Above all else, Charles loved his family. His greatest joy was time spent together -sharing meals, stories, laughter, and life's everyday moments. His steady presence, quiet humor, and willingness to help anyone in need made him a source of strength and comfort to all who knew him.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia Oney; his children: Michelle and Thomas Scott III of Willard, Ohio; Gloria and Ryan Jenkins of Aurora, Missouri; Tamara and Greg Barton of Aurora, Missouri; and Charlotte and Mitch Etheridge of Aurora, Missouri. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Maudie Oney; his brother, Vernon Oney; and his sister, Hester Mae.

Charles loved the outdoors, but even more than that, he cherished the opportunity to share those experiences and his passion for the outdoors with the next generation.

In his honor, spend time outdoors, start a project you've been putting off, lend a helping hand to someone in need, and gather your family close - the things Charles loved most.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the things he built, and the family he loved so well.

A celebration of Charles's life will be held at Peterson Funeral Chapel, 229 W. Church St.,

Aurora, MO 65605 on Tuesday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Spring River Cemetery, Verona with full military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time.

Flowers may be sent to Peterson Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri. Memorial donations

may be made at Freedom Bank in Aurora, Missouri, with all proceeds benefiting Cross Trail

Outfitters, a ministry that uses hunting, fishing, and outdoor experiences to guide the next

generation to Christ.

Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
