Clara Jean Sears, 92, Wheaton, died February 16, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Jean was born Aug. 22, 1922 in Granby, Missouri, the daughter of Solomon David and Mary (Finn) Judd. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked as postal clerk at the Granby Post Office and was a homemaker. She was a community volunteer and enjoyed sewing, painting, working puzzles and was an avid reader. She was a member of Wheaton United Methodist Church, UMW and a Bible scholar.
Jean married Calvin Hooper Sears on June 22, 1947 in Columbus, Kansas and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2004. She is survived by three children, Ted Sears of Wheaton; Joy Prier of Wheaton and Jill Offutt of Lebanon; one brother, Carl D. Judd of Granby; four grandchildren, Kevin Prier and wife, Michelle; Ryan Prier, Faith Offutt and Judd Offutt; four step grandchildren, Leon Offutt, Angie Becerra, Sandee Offutt and David Wayne Offutt; two great grandchildren, Kylie Bartlett and Gauge Bartlett and numerous step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Tammy Offutt; three sisters, Mable Hopper, Phyllis McMurtrey and Patsy McCleary and a brother, Bobby Judd.
