Mary H. Carr, 90, passed away February 15, 2015 at St Luke’s Nursing Center of Carthage.
Mary was born March 6, 1924 in Oklahoma to Claude Jones and Ada “Herd” Jones. Mary had polio at a young age overcame it and had a vibrant fun loving personality and love a good joke. She was longtime Carthage resident and a musician she had Mary’s band for several years and played in several area honky tonks and in OK Bar and Billiards. Mary was a member of the VFW post #13 Joplin auxiliary.
Mary was united in marriage to Bart Johnson he preceded her in death September 1986. Mary was married to Bill Carr who also preceded her in death. Mary is survived by two daughters Jeanie Dabbs and husband Tom of Carthage and Jan Johnson of Springfield, 12 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren. Mary is preceded by one son Bart Johnson Jr. March 2010, one sister Norma Schnelle, and one brother Otis Jones.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday February 20, 2014 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.Thursday February 19, 2015 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring Valley Cemetery Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com.
