Anita Sue Burns-Chrisman, age 74, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday March 3, at Mercy Hospital, following an illness.
Anita was born on February 5, 1941 in Burlington, Ks., the daughter of the late Charles William and Hazel Loretta (Dahl) Reynolds. She has been a long time Joplin resident. She graduated from Joplin High School. She devoted her life to being a devoted wife and mother. In her later years she worked for the Area Agency on Aging, retiring in 2007. She was a devout Christian.
Anita married Benny L. Burns on April 12, 1958. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2008. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Hinkle, and one brother, Billy Reynolds. She married Richard Chrisman on December 17, 2013 and he survives. Additional survivors include six children, Benjamin L. Burns and wife Annie, Joplin, David W. Burns, Joplin, Loretta S. Ritchie and husband Carl, Joplin, Kimberly S. Burns-Starkey, Joplin, Mary Lynn Vantrease, Joplin, Robert W. Burns and wife Michelle, Palm Bay, Fl.; five step-children, Rick Chrisman, Joplin, Patty Butler, Joplin, Tanja Chrisman, Joplin, Johnny Patterson, Joplin, Robert Chrisman, and wife Becky, Carthage, one brother, Robert Reynolds, Bella Vista, Ar.; three sisters, Helen Frew, Shirley Greninger, Joplin, and Kathy Widener, Junction City, Ks.; fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Adam Ritchie, Tyler Starkey, Jeff Webb, Greg Case, Michael Gipson, and Carl Ritchie. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary.
