Virginia Lee Burnett, 91, Granby, died March 5, 2015 at her home, following a lengthy illness.
Virginia was born August 8, 1923 at Red Fork, Oklahoma, the daughter of Quillie and Ruth (Sowash) Howard. She moved to the area in 1943 and lived in Granby for many years and was co-owner with her husband, Rex of Burnett Grocery for over 30 years. She was a member of the Gingham Girls, Yesteryear Car Club and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Granby Christian Church. It was well known in the community if you wanted a hamburger or piece of pie, just drop by her house on Saturday night.
Virginia and Rex M. Burnett were married on Dec. 13, 1945 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2002. She is survived by four children, Vivian Burnett of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Beth Bowman and husband, David of Granby; Connie Satterlee and husband, Mike of Clever, Missouri and David Burnett of the home; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
