Jimmie Leroy Day, age 87, of Golden City, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Jimmie was born September 26, 1928 in Nevada, Iowa, one of the six children of James and Mildred (Robertson) Day. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond; four sisters, Juanita, Ilo, Leona, and Laurene; and a son, Jeff Day.
Jimmie graduated from Shipley High School in Shipley, Iowa and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On October 21, 1952, at Fort Smith, Arkansas, he married the love of his life, Delores Lande. Jimmie farmed and raised livestock for 55 years, first in Iowa, before moving to Dade County, Missouri in 1970. As an over-the road truck driver for 23 years, Jimmie, with Delores by his side, traveled the entire country before retiring to Golden City in 2005.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 63 years, Delores, of the home; a son, Jim (Lisa) Day, Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Laurie (Richard) Pierce, Altamont, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Jerri Day, Lamar, Missouri; four grandsons, Jeffry Day, Jason Day, Jerad Day, and Renno Curtsinger; and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery, south of Jasper, Missouri.
