Maudine W. Duncan, age 82, Galena, Kansas, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at her home after an illness.
Maudine was born April 9, 1933 in Galena and had lived in the area most of her life.
She attended Galena schools and graduated from Pittsburg (KS) School of Nursing, Pittsburg, Kansas.
Maudine worked as an RN at Freeman Hospital for over 40 years, retiring in 1995. Following her retirement, she continued her work in the medical field by working as a nurse at area nursing homes. She was a former member of the Elk's Women; enjoyed playing Bingo and loved spending time with her family.
Maudine married Paul I. Duncan on April 10, 1954. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1995.
Survivors include her children, Paul Duncan and his wife, Darlene, Galena, Stephan Duncan, Galena, Brian Duncan and his wife, Kelly, Galena, Kim Richards and her husband, Jim, Baxter Springs, Kansas, Deborah Christman and her husband, Jim, Joplin; a brother, Gary Lair, Galena; a niece, Lisa Trejo, Galena; grandchildren, Megan Duncan, Jay, Oklahoma, Michael Duncan, Galena, Sandy Brummertt, Galena, James Brown, Joplin, James Richards, Seneca, Cassie Johnston, Joplin; and great grandchildren, Weston, Sarah, Taylor, Chayton, Marci, Eve, Kolton and Troy.
Graveside services are planned for Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. The family will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
