Richard Magoon

Richard Albert Magoon, age 75 of Joplin, passed away peacefully at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home.

Born May 20, 1940 in Plainfield, NH, he was the son of the late Leslie Magoon and Barbara Merrifew Magoon. Richard was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked in maintenance and on the production line at Doane Products and Safeway.

On February 14, 1976 he married Doraline Marie Kane in Joplin. Marie preceded him in death on May 3, 2013. Two brothers, Leslie and Donald Magoon; and a grandson, Zachary Schlesselman, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara of Ava, MO; a sister, Maxine Thompson of Nixa, MO; a stepdaughter, Sheri McKinzie and husband Scott of Joplin; a stepson, Ricky Slezak of Joplin; two grandchildren, Karissa Logan and husband Brent, Dusty Schlesselman; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Lilly Logan; several nieces and nephews. He was particularly close with his niece, Terry Magoon.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Chapel, after which, the family will receive friends.
