Bobby 'Bob' Wayne Armstrong, 83 of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.
Bob was born April 4, 1932 in Fanshawe, Oklahoma to the late Raymond Henry Armstrong and Alice Lee Jones Armstrong. Bob served over 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. before retiring. After his service to our country, he later went to work serving veterans. Bob was an Oklahoma City bombing survivor while working for the Veterans Affairs. His wife attended Peace Lutheran Church in Joplin.
On October 18, 1960, Bob married the love of his life, Barbara Knaub on Paris Island, South Carolina. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary together. She survives of the home.
Additionally, Bob is survived by his son, Robert Armstrong and wife, Cindy of Girard, Kansas; daughter, Lorrie Cerny and husband, Larry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; grandchildren, Zack, Kasey and Sam Cerny, Misty Waldenville, Heather and Nathaniel Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Rei, Byron, Gavin, Jaxton and Emmett; brothers, Tom, Jack and Raymond Armstrong.
Other than his parents, Bob is preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Ronnie Armstrong and a sister, Mona Crawford.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in North Joplin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
