Mr. Robert L. “Bob” Obenshain, 79, of Noel, Missouri, departed this life suddenly on Monday, November 9, 2015, at his residence.
Bob entered this life on November 7, 1936, in Russell, Kansas, born to the union of the late Delbert and Nellie (Ehrlich) Obenshain. He was raised and graduated high school in Windom, Kansas. He remained in Kansas for several years before moving to Noel, Missouri, in 1978. Bob was a man that wore many hats. He was a Police Officer in McPherson, Kansas, a welder, truck driver and mobile home delivery specialist. He retired at the age of sixty-two in 1998. He enjoyed playing golf and attending gospel singings. Bob was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church in Noel and was past president of Elk River Country Club also located in Noel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Peggy Obenshain on October 31, 2003; and two sisters, Dena Smith and Norietta Hanan.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley Obenshain whom he married on April 25, 2015; three children, Angela Clayton of Loveland, Colorado, Steven Obenshain also of Loveland and Nathan Obenshain and wife, DeeDee, of Noel, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Newcomer of Mossyrock, Washington and Dorothy Harner of Noel, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Obenshain are 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2015, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Bro. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Noel Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Matt Russell, Josh Obenshain, Jesse Prater, Josh Watson, Kyle Obenshain and Dylan Obenshain. Mike Viles, Ray Thompson, Floyd Fine and Don Parks will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
