Floyd W. Dilbeck, 90, passed away November 26, 2015 at his home in Neosho, following a short illness.
Floyd was born April 16, 1925 in Barry County, Missouri, the son of Arthur Oren “Pat” and Edith Bell (Writer) Dilbeck. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and has been a lifelong area resident. He and his wife, Marilyn, owned and operated Floyd’s Jewelry in Neosho for 47 years from 1955-2002. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, and Abou Ben Adhem. He was a member of and instrumental in the formation of the Neosho Shrine Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, and cattleman. He was a founding member of the Four State Bird Dog Association. He served on the board of the Newton County Soil Water and Conservation District, and was a member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Floyd married Marilyn Swanson on August 7, 1954 in Neosho and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters: Terry and Russ Didelot of Taylors, SC; Kim Dilbeck and Gerry Mason of Neosho; and Jill Dilbeck and Jay Mainord of Kyle, TX; two sisters, Irene Snyder and Norma Lea Williamson of Cassville; two grandsons, Matt and Ben Didelot; two great grandchildren, Maddie and Bennett Didelot; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Dilbeck, and a sister, Arvilla Meador.
