M. Leroy Locke, 81, Neosho, died November 3, 2015 at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Leroy was born Oct. 11, 1934 in Neosho, the son of Walter and Marcella (Callihan) Locke. He lived most of his life in Neosho and served in the U.S. Air Force. Leroy worked as a supervisor at Rocketdyne in the heat treat and processing department and transferred to North American Rockwell in Tulsa. He then co-owned Rocky Branch Marina in Rogers, Arkansas and returned to Neosho. He owned and operated Sears Elite Carpet Cleaning. Following that he founded and operated Furniture West in Neosho from 1976 until he retired in 1993. Leroy was a member of the Neosho Masonic Lodge 247; Neosho York Rite; Neosho Shrine Club and Abou Ben Adhem in Springfield. He was a member of the VFW Post 4142; former commissioner of the Neosho Special Road District and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Seneca. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and everyone enjoyed hearing his stories. He loved his family and was a good husband, father and papa – his great grandchildren were his joy.
Leroy married Bonnie (Taylor) on February 8, 1957 and she survives. Additional survivors include two children, Rhonda Calton and husband Craig and Brad Locke, all of Neosho; two brothers, Walter Wayne Locke and wife, Lucille of Westminister, SC and Oscar Locke of Auburn, CA; four grandchildren, Cassie (Darren) Charlton; Rachelle (Zeb) Morlok; Nick (Chyenne) Calton and Dustin Locke. Three great grandchildren: Cooper and Coleman Charlton, Allison Calton and expecting a fourth great grandchild.
