Mildred Fletcher, age 93, of Joplin, Mo., a longtime Carl Junction, Mo. resident passed away at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Spring River Christian Village. Mildred was born July 29, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio, and had lived in the Carl Junction area since 1947. Mildred was a hairdresser and owned the Carl Junction Beauty Shop, and later had Mildred’s Beauty Shop in Joplin. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Joplin, and the St. John’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Mildred married Daley M. “Freck” Fletcher February 29, 1944 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1959. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Cadman, and a sister, Barbara Nowinski. Survivors include a son, Randy Fletcher and wife Sheila, Webb City, Mo., a sister, Alice Grezki, Curtice, Ohio, one granddaughter, Rochelle Fletcher, Troy, Mo., two great granddaughters, Shannon and Maggie, and many special nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Smithfield Christian Church, west of Carl Junction with Ken Ansley, Minister and Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow at the Carl Junction Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to Spring River Christian Village in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
