Norma Wilson age 85 passed away on Friday November 20, 2015 at her home.
Norma was born on June 23, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas and Edith Boss Metz. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1946 and was employed at Socony Vacuum Oil Company until the birth of her first child.
She married Orville L. Wright (Bud) on Februay 14, 1948 and they lived in Independence, Missouri with their two children, Randy and Dana, until the couple moved to Brea, California in 1958.
After Bud’s death in 1964, Norma graduated from Anaheim Business College and later Fullerton College. She worked for the City of Brea Police Department until her retirement.
In 1976 Norma was united in marriage to Edward Wilson and from this union she gained two children dear to her heart, Marsha and Glen Wilson. The couple moved to Joplin in 1983 and Norma worked part time jobs at S&S Erectors, Empire Electric and Pedro J. Pantoja. She was a member of College Heights Christian Church and was active in Primetimers Senior Group and the Cheerleaders Homebound Ministry. She was an avid walker and member of the Dogwood Trailblazers Walking Club, earning a National American Volksporting Association (AVA) Award for walking 10K walks in all 50 states.
Norma was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, a brother Tommy Metz and her daughter and son-in-law Dana and Richard Bansmer.
Survivors include three children Randy Wright and wife Bonnie, Marsha Adams and husband Scott Malkemus, and Glen Wilson and wife Kathy; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a close friend and walking buddy of 32 years Edith Williams.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday December 5, 2015 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory with Minister Rick Bushnell officiating.
