Paul Pedersen

Paul Lawrence Pedersen, age 88, Carthage, MO, passed away Thursday March 7, 2019 at Joplin Gardens, Joplin, MO. 

Paul was born January 28, 1931 in Marcus, IA to the late Carl and Hazel (Quiren) Pedersen. He was a 1949 graduate of Holy Name High School in Marcus, IA. Paul was a veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army. Paul married Tressie Helm on January 16, 1982 in Casper, WY; she preceded him in death on December 13, 2018. He was an over the road truck driver up until he turned 82 years of age. He enjoyed farming, had his private pilot’s license and was very proud of his Danish ancestry. He was a member of the Community Fellowship Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori Graves (Rick), Nashville, TN, and Amy Cross (Brad), St. Louis, MO; three sons, David Pedersen (Marta), Dallas, TX, Mark Pedersen (Julie), Canyon Lake, TX, and Jay Pedersen (Kathy), Omaha, NE; one brother, John Pedersen (Celine), Marcus, IA; one sister-in-law, Mary Pedersen; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Bill and Dick Pedersen; and two sisters, Ann Marie Janousek and Betty LaFalse.

Visitation will be held 2-3 pm, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Monday, March 11, 2019 at Knell Mortuary. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to American Cancer Society or Community Fellowship Church in care of Knell Mortuary.
