Linda A. Powers age 71 of Carl Junction passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. She was born on July 4, 1948 in Joplin, Missouri to Harry Robeson and Frances (Dorman) Robeson.
Linda grew up in Galena, KS and graduated from the University of Kansas with a BA in elementary education. She taught school in Houston, TX, St. Joseph, MO and Galena.
She was an avid golfer all of her life. She was active in the Briarbrook Women’s Golf Association as President and organized the popular women's’ tournament, The Nutcracker, which is still an annual event. She played on the Joplin Horton Smith team for several years. She bowled for many years, played volleyball and tennis.
She added a baby car seat to her golf cart and shifted careers to become a professional mom until she moved on to being a professional grandmother.

Linda is survived by her husband Mark Powers of the home; sons, Brian Powers and wife Ramona of Omaha, Nebraska, Daniel Powers and wife Chelsea of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Nora Powers, Colby Powers, Harvey Powers, Emery Powers; a sister, Sara Mrgudic and husband Anthony of North Ridge, California; a niece, Katie Mrgudic; and a nephew, Michael Mrgudic.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Carl Junction from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in her memory.
