Neal Westra

Neal Evert Westra, age 29, of Pierce City, MO, was called home by his Heavenly Father unexpectedly on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

Neal was born on August 18, 1990 in Joplin, MO, son of Gary Neil Westra and Susan Jane (Dummit) Westra. He graduated from Pierce City High School with the Class of 2008. Neal was a lifelong farmer and for the last year had owned and operated N.W. Brush and Land Clearing. He enjoyed anything to do with the farm, especially combining and mowing hay. However, the greatest joy in his life was spending time with his children.

On June 6, 2013, Neal married Sydney Lynn Washeck in Mount Vernon, MO. They were blessed with two children, Rhin and Anna.








Neal is survived by his wife, Sydney, of the home; his children, Rhin Eugene Westra and Anna Lynn Westra; his parents, Gary and Susan Westra, of Pierce City; two brothers, Benjamin Westra, Ret. and wife Angela, of Kempner, TX and Ryan Westra and wife Denice, of Sahuarita, AZ; one sister, Nikki Griffith and husband Tom, of Carthage, MO; his mother-in-law, Connie Harter and husband Dave; his father-in-law, Joe Washeck and Kim Shelton; his sister-in-law, Allison Williams and husband Jeff; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ronnie Howerton officiating. Interment will be held at the Oakdale Cemetery, Monett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to K-LOVE Christian Radio Station in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
