Doug Bowen

William Douglas "Doug" Bowen, age 66, of Pierce City, MO peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 05, 2020 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO while surrounded by family. Mr. Bowen was born in Monett, MO on Wednesday, December 23, 1953. He was the son of Wayne and Lillian (Koenig) Bowen.

Mr. Bowen graduated from Pierce City High School in 1972. He attended college at Missouri Southern in Joplin, MO where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science. Mr. Bowen was married to Janice Essary on February 24, 1989 in Grove, OK. 

Mr. Bowen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO. He was a self-employed contractor. Mr. Bowen was an avid Chiefs fan and enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family.








Surviving are the following: his wife, Janice of the home; five sons: Nathan Bowen of MO, Justin (Stacy) Bowen of AR, Jacob (Clarissa) Bowen of MO, Tim (Melissa) Fischer of WI, and James (Dori) Fischer of OK; one daughter, Pam (Matt) Spencer of MO; one brother, Ron Bowen; three sisters, Marsha Brown, Nancy Fleming, and Joan Bowen; and twelve grandchildren. Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Mr. Bowen has been cremated at his request. The family will receive friends at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, MO on February 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations to defray medical and funeral expenses may be made at the US Bank (Monett). An account has been set up for the Doug Bowen Memorial.
