Vela Sue (Susie) Shofler age 82 of Carterville, MO passed away April 6, 2020. She was born in Webb City, MO on September 16, 1937 to Raymond Courtright and Ruth (Highley) Courtright.
She married Jack Shofler on February 3, 1956 and they shared 64 years of marriage.
Vela worked at Elder’s Shirt Factory, U Do-We Do Laundry and USPS in Carl Junction where she retired. She loved to play bingo with her twin sister Mary Lou. She loved her children, grandchildren, and thought the great grands were the best.
Vela was preceded in death by her parents, a son Kenny, a sister Patty, and a brother Glen.
She is survived by her husband Jack; daughters & sons in laws, Vicki and Roy Viele, Chris and Calvin Taylor, Kathy and Glenn Simmons; daughter in law, Carol Shofler; her twin sister, Mary Lou Hayes, a sister Judy Courtright; grandchildren, Dustin (Amy), Tedi(Phillip), Curtis(Lacy), Kim(Shane), Jason, Joey(Marlena), Eric(Marci), Brittany, Micah(Lindsey), Jonathan(Beth), Jordan(Kyle); and 28 great grands and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Carterville Cemetery with Reverend Johnny Wilkins officiating.
Open viewing will be held between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
