Don Williams

Donald D. Williams, age 79, Carl Junction, passed away on Thursday, August 6th after a long illness.

Don was born January 9th, 1941 in Joplin, Missouri to Archie and Gladys (Cape) Williams. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1960. He enjoyed dirt track racing in his younger years, and working on cars with his brothers.

Don worked for years in the grocery store business, and later driving over the road for CFI. He retired from CFI in 2011 after 17 years.

He loved serving the Lord, and was a Christian example to all who knew him. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandpa. Grandpa Don and Grandma Carmeans’ home was a favorite place for all the grandkids and their friends. He was patient and always had time to spend with his grandkids when they came over. He was also passionate about working in the yard and his workshop. 








Don was preceded in death by eight brothers, a sister, and his step-daughter, Tari Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Carmean Williams, whom he married on June 21, 1984; his daughters, Kayley Bortmas (Phil) and Dawn Williams (Karen); and three step-children, Mark Johnson (Cheryl), Kevin Johnson (Lisa), and Lori Salchow (Troy); nine grandkids, Morgan Sprouls, Megan Chew, (Shannon) Nathan Johnson, Lindsey Hunt, (Zach) Katie Johnson, Makenzi Markham, Mason Markham, Tyler Markham, Tyler Sparks, and a host of great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 at Carl Junction Christian Church with Pastor Boyce Mouton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
