Marcia Pennell

(From Konantz Warden Funeral Home)

Marcia Yvonne (King) Pennell was born January 18th, 1955 to Robbie and Wilford King in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The family moved to Lamar, Missouri in 1969 where Marcia attended high school, graduating in 1973. Marcia departed this life on Wednesday July 29, 2020 from complications of diabetes.

Marcia's adventurous nature took her to work and live in several states. Marcia was united in marriage to Bill Pennell in 1998 in Greenfield, Missouri. They later moved to Iantha, Missouri where Marcia was active in the Baptist Church, participating in Mission trips to Haiti and Romania. Since moving into Lamar, she affiliated with the Lamar Nazarene Church.

Diabetes presented Marcia with challenges she met with courage, determination and a positive attitude. Due to her failing health she most recently resided at Truman Healthcare in Lamar.

Marcia is survived by her husband Bill Pennell of Iantha, MO; daughter Jessica (James) Purdy Cunningham of Clever, MO; her mother Robbie King of Lamar, MO; sisters Sue (Steve) Bruce of Raytown, MO, and Patricia (Dan) Preston of Branson, MO; and a brother Bill (Lisa) King of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by her grandchildren Karen, Lucy, and Luke Carter; Sara Goeller; Destiny Farris; and Arya Turk; sons-in-law Brian Carter and Steve Berten; her good friend Charity (Dave) Turk, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A celebration of Marcia's life will be held at the Lamar City Park Saturday August 8, 2020 at 1 PM at pavilion 3 by the basketball courts. Please practice safety by wearing a mask and social distancing. Bring a lawn chair and memories of Marcia you would like to share.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the GoFundMe account that has been set up to help with final expenses or a gift to the Lamar Ministerial Alliance.
