(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Jerry Robert LaTurner, II of Galena, passed away at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born on September 19, 1960 in Joplin, MO to Jerry Robert LaTurner, I and Carolyn Rowan. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Jasper Products, retiring in 2022. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He grew up spending many nights in the woods coon hunting with his Dad. He was also a skilled artist both in drawing and in crafting handmade knives that he often gifted to family and friends.
He was united in marriage with Delcina LaTurner on August 18, 1979 in Galena, KS. She survives.
Additional survivors include his father, Jerry Robert LaTurner, I (wife Elizabeth) of Galena; two sons, Joshua LaTurner (wife, Allison Williams) of Galena, and Chad LaTurner (wife, Megan) of Galena; one daughter, Melissa Crouch of Galena; seven grandchildren, Weston Ward, Lacie Crouch, Lindsey Crouch, Jack LaTurner, Ella LaTurner, Dayton Bennett, and Dakota Bennett; and one brother, Perry David LaTurner of Asbury, MO; as well as numerous, cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Rowan; one sister, Teresa LaTurner; and one brother, Gary Wayne LaTurner.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Following the visitation, he will be taken for cremation. Private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena at a later date.
