Michael Kay Kelley, age 78, Joplin, formerly of Diamond, MO, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 at a local hospital.
Michael was born February 7, 1947 in Granby, MO, son of the late Martin Daniel Kelley and Ruby Fern (Salsman) Kelley. He grew up in Diamond and graduated from Diamond High School before attending Crowder College. He then joined the United States Navy and served his country for four years before being honorably discharged in Seattle, WA. He began working for F.A.G. Bearing in 1971 and retired in 2007 as a Technical Engineer.
After retiring from F.A.G. he worked as a professor at Crowder College in the Electrical Engineering Department. He was constantly repairing things from clocks, radios, turntables, etc., he enjoyed refurbishing electronic items. He loved to listen to music, and loved to travel around in his car listening to his music. He was a member of the Diamond First Baptist Church. He was a joy to be around, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed some help with electrical issues. He will be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Sherry Kelley, who passed in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Kay (Michael) Kelley, whom he married on February 2, 1996; children, Logan Kelley of Diamond, Dustin Trento (Darcy) of Joplin, Jestina Trento (Pam) of Grove, OK, and Nathan Trento (Jill) of Saginaw, MO; grandchildren, Lucas Kelley of Diamond, Brody Trento of Saginaw, Brycen Trento of Saginaw, Dillan Nichols (Victoria) of Palm Beach, FL, and Summer Trento of Joplin.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Pastor Johnie Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Thornhill-Dillon on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to his wife, Bonnie Kelley.
