(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Robert Marion “Bob” Nelson, age 85, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma. He entered this life on September 25, 1939, in Joplin, Missouri, son of the late Herschel Dean and Theresa Glenn (Humphrey) Nelson.
Raised in Roxana, Illinois, Bob was a graduate of Roxanna High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor and integrity. After his discharge, Bob settled in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and later returned to his birthplace of Joplin in 1984, where he would remain.
Bob's professional life was characterized by his meticulous work as an Engineer Field Rep for Allgeier Martin. His commitment to excellence was evident in his work until his retirement in 2013.
He is survived by his four children, Dawn Aaron and husband, Doug, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Vince Nelson of Soda Ash, Idaho, Mike Nelson and wife, Charity, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Scott Nelson and wife, Casey, of Coweta, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Susan Deem of Joplin, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters.
Bob's interests were simple yet deeply rooted in the pleasures of life. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, where he could reflect on life's wonders amidst the beauty of nature. Mowing his yard was another activity he cherished, taking pride in the neatness and order of his surroundings. These pastimes were more than hobbies; they were reflections of a man who appreciated the value of hard work and the serenity of the outdoors.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Burkhart Cemetery near Neosho, Missouri. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
