Albert Slaughter

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

It is with both a heavy heart and a spirit of celebration that we remember the life of Albert Donald “Don” Slaughter, who was born on September 28, 1956, in Lima, Ohio, and passed away on April 18, 2025 surrounded by family. Albert was a compassionate and funny man, known for his loyalty and spirited nature. He was the kind of person who could lighten any room with his humor, and his loyal companionship was a comfort to everyone who knew him.

Albert was a dedicated truck driver for many years, retiring in 2012 after receiving an award for 20 years of safe driving. His job took him to many places, but he always found his way back to the calmness of nature.

A lover of the outdoors, Albert enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He also had a unique infatuation with panning for gold, a hobby that embodied his adventurous spirit and relentless optimism. Pope Francis said "As stewards of God's creation, we are called to make the earth a beautiful garden for the human family" and Albert lived his life in that way. Albert truly lived these words, finding peace, joy, and understanding in nature's embrace.

Albert was not just a man of the outdoors; he was also a man of immense love for his family. He is survived by his sons Chase (Shae) Slaughter and Bryce (Caleb) Slaughter; grandchildren, Gunnison and Hudson Slaughter; siblings, James (Kathleen) Slaughter, David (Bennetta) Slaughter, Michael (Donna) Slaughter and Joseph (Colleen) Slaughter. Preceding him in death are his parents, Vincent and Carlene; sister, Roberta Slaughter.

Albert's love for his family was palpable and enduring, and he will be fondly remembered by his loved ones for his unwavering loyalty and his compassionate heart.

A Graveside Committal will be held Wednesday April 30th, 2025 at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 11am.

Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. The family encourages relatives and friends to visit www.simpsonfh.com to share photos and memories of Albert. This is not a goodbye, but a celebration of a life well-lived, so let us remember Albert Slaughter for his lively spirit, his warm heart, and the love he shared with all of us.
