Bill Greer

William “Bill” Thomas Greer
June 26, 1930 – May 18, 2025

Bill was born in Newton County, MO to T. Ray and Margret (Bowles) Greer. He was a member of Rocketdyne Road Church of Christ and West Union Church of Christ. He married Doris Hirshey on July 13, 1951. They had 73 years of marriage. She survives.

Bill graduated from Diamond High School in 1948. He graduated from Joplin Junior College (now MSSU) in 1950 and continued his education at the University of Missouri, graduating in 1954 with a degree in vocational agriculture.








Bill taught Vo-Ag in Galena, MO for eleven years. Then he taught Vo-Ag at Diamond, MO from 1965-1986. After he retired, he traveled to Czech Republic, Africa, Alaska, Rome, Italy, Peru, England, France, Germany, Canada, and almost all of the United States enjoying national parks and historical sites.

He served on the Diamond Special Road District and the Diamond School Board. Bill also operated a beef cattle ranch. In the summers, he took the family on trips to national parks. We had many memorable adventures. He also sang bass with the Barbershop Singers.

Survivors include wife Doris of 73 years, sons; Sam (Kim), Dan, Scot (Diana) and daughters; Katy (John) and Beth (Ron). He had seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.








He had some special friends: Obern Charlton, Darrell Clark “Sawdust”, and John Lewis.

Bill’s everyday request was Beth’s peanut butter cookies. A meal was never complete without onions.

Services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel, 3701 E 7th St, Joplin, MO. Burial will be held immediately follow the service at Powers Cemetery in Diamond, MO.
