Jim Scott

(From Clark Funeral Home)

James Albion Scott, 80, of Neosho, Missouri passed away peacefully in his home on April 30, 2025. He was born April 14, 1945, in Joplin, Missouri to Donald C. and Mabel C. (Alderman) Scott.

Jim started working at the R.C. Cola Company in Joplin, Missouri while still in high school. Following graduation from Neosho High School in 1963, Jim got a job with the Coca-Cola bottling company delivering soft drinks in the Neosho area. Later, he went to work with Neosho Cable TV Company until he was hired as a lineman in the Neosho area at Empire District Electric Company. He continued working at Empire District Electric, Neosho area, for forty years until his retirement as a foreman in 2008.

After retiring, Jim bought his own aerial lift and continued trimming/removing trees and even cutting his own lumber on his sawmill. Many people have been recipients of his wooden bowls, trivets, and other wooden projects he crafted over the years. Jim also enjoyed growing vegetables and strawberries in his enclosed raised garden beds he built in the back yard. Also, with the help of his son, Greg, Jim restored his 1931 Model A Pickup he had bought in 1963. Even with all this going on, he still found some time to enjoy his favorite hobby, fishing for crappie. And was happy to share his catch among friends and family with a Fish Fry now and then.

Jim was a long-time (almost sixty years) member of Hillcrest Church of Christ where he was recently honored for serving as a deacon for 35 years.

Jim and Linda Kay (Hart) were married on May 16,1964 in Neosho, and she survives. In addition to his wife, of over sixty years, he is survived by two children, Judy (Husband, Stanley) Keith of Seneca, Missouri, and Greg (wife, Jeana) Scott of Cassville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Shalee (Husband, Nick) Ortega, Amanda Bertrand, Chelsea (Husband, Thomas) Pendergraft, Shelby Keith, Jonathan Keith, Josiah Keith, and Sophie Scott; ten great-grandchildren, Scarlett Ortega, Daniel Ortega, Sam Ortega, Violet Ortega, Aurelie Bertrand, Arthur Bertrand, Jaxon Adams, Graylynn Adams, Caroline Keith, and Kaylyn Pendergraft; one brother, Don (Wife, Lois) Scott of Joplin, Missouri, and one sister, Mary Carol Stephens of Neosho, Missouri.
