(From Clark Funeral Home)Mark Alan Hughes, 70, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2025.
Mark was born on February 22, 1955, to Gene Ellington and Hedvig (Shoen) Hughes. He grew up in Colorado and graduated from high school there. Mark went on to work as a stationary engineer at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant in Colorado, where he applied his skills and dedication for many years.
On May 22, 1982, he married Retta Perovich in Colorado, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love and mutual respect. After relocating to Missouri, Mark became an active member of Victory Assembly of God in Neosho. In his leisure time, he found great joy in fishing, a hobby that brought him peace and connection to the outdoors.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Retta Hughes; daughter Lisa Bell of Neosho, Missouri; son Ross Stevens of Rochester, New York; and siblings Kathleen (Scott) Frazier and Pat Howton, both of Salina, Kansas, and David Hughes (Kathleen) of North Platte, Nebraska. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews, and his faithful fur babies, Gus and Peete.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Hedvig Hughes.
Mark will be remembered for his quiet strength, his commitment to family, and his deep faith. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
