Roman Rogers

Roman Matthew Rogers, age 51, of Lee’s Summit, MO, died at home May 10, 2025. He was born June 29, 1973, in Joplin, Missouri, to Penelope Patterson Rogers and Randy Rogers.

Roman was raised in Joplin and attended Irving Elementary, South Middle School, Joplin Junior High, and graduated from Joplin High School (1991) where he was a proud member of the golf team and a Boy's State participant. He graduated from Drury University in Springfield with both his Bachelor’s (1995) and Master’s (1996) degrees, and served honorably in the United States Army.

His professional life included time in banking at Jack Henry and later working in the family business, J.E. Patterson Plumbing, until its closure.

Roman enjoyed childhood Southern Hills adventures, playing baseball at Wildcat Park, attending First Presbyterian Church, swimming and fishing at our grandparents’ place on Grand Lake (Ice Box Bluff and Benbrook Cove), racing in regional BMX events, golfing with his father and friends at Briarbrook, and curating Fourth of July fireworks extravaganzas. He was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and a Mizzou football and basketball fan. Las Vegas was a favorite destination. The Dave Matthews Band were his favorite musicians and he saw them live numerous times.

Roman will be remembered for his humor, his unmistakable laugh, his sharp intellect and his quick wit. He brought joy to many and leaves behind a wide circle of lifelong friends and family who will miss him deeply.

Roman is survived by his sister Brandy Rogers DeWeese (Blair), nephew Noah, and nieces Abigail and Ruah of Seattle, WA; his best friend and former wife Cassy Rogers of Branson, stepdaughter Ashley Horn (Will) of Branson, uncle Lanny Rogers and aunt Nancy of Joplin, aunt Vicki Patterson and cousin Kipley Wright of Colorado Springs, CO, and uncle Todd Patterson of Kansas City.

Roman was preceded in death by our parents, our maternal and paternal grandparents, and our uncles Joel Patterson, Denny Rogers, and Terry Rogers.

A private gathering will be held at a later date, and his ashes will be scattered in accordance with his wishes.
