(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Steven Wyrick Theimer was born July 22, 1972. He was the pride and joy of his mother, Rose Ann Theimer. Steve gained his angel wings on June 5, 2025.
At the age of 16, Steve called his mom and told her to come home because he needed to talk to her. When she got home, he had cooked her a steak dinner and told her that he wanted to be a police officer. This wasn’t her dream for him, but she made a deal with him that he needed to go to college first and then she would agree to him becoming a police officer.
He fulfilled that deal with his mom and went on to complete college by earning his unofficial masters degree in Theology, as well as a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a lifelong learner and was filled with a wealth of knowledge. He became one of the smartest people that everyone said they knew. He could talk about anything and leave many people scratching their heads in awe of his knowledge.
He fulfilled his dream of becoming a police officer by joining the Tulsa Police Department in 2000. He recently assisted with the RNS Project at the PITD in the Department. He was a mental health response officer and enjoyed helping people. Over the past few days we heard story after story about how Steve loved taking rookie police officers under his wing, training them well, teaching them to think for themselves, keeping them safe and preparing them for their future as a police officer. He truly loved being a police officer and helping others to be great police officers. Steve retired from the Department after twenty-five years on the force.
Steve proudly carried on his grandfather’s legacy by joining the Masonic Fraternity. He was a Perpetual Member of Pilgrim-Rock Lodge No. 522, A.F. & A.M. and a 32° Scottish Rite Freemason. Steve truly lived the tenements of Freemasonry; Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
He loved working on his house and his property. He loved his dog Olaf and all of his other animals, especially his favorite guinea chicken who Megan has affectionately named Steve. He loved landscaping, which he learned in high school and college. He utilized those skills and knowledge on his property. He was meticulous, precise and creative in everything he did. It all brought him a great deal of pride, peace and comfort.
If you were his friend, you knew you were truly cared for and loved because you could feel it. He had a heart of gold. He was an extremely private person, so, if you were inside his inner circle, you were a very blessed person.
We have heard many stories about how much he talked about his mom and “M” (Megan), as he called her. The two “Ms”, mom and Megan, were the loves of his life and everyone he talked to knew it.
Steve is survived by his mom, Rose Ann Theimer; his fiancé, Megan Haworth and her family; his aunts, uncles and extended family; his close friends Eric and Brenda Ganders; all of his brothers and sisters in blue and so many others who worked with Steve throughout the City of Tulsa and surrounding departments and so many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Leonard Theimer; and his grandmother and grandfather. Steve will be interred in Joplin, Missouri, with his grandparents. Services in Joplin will be under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin, Mo. Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 1:00p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Cancer took him away from us far too soon. Even through his battle, he was still the same Steve that everyone loved. He will be deeply missed by everyone who loved this amazing man.
