(From Clark Funeral Home)Ronald Lee Becknell, 74, of Neosho, Missouri, died on July 1, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1951, in Neosho to Robert Willis and Dorothy (Marble) Becknell.
Ron grew up in the Neosho area and attended Cave Springs and Cedar Creek grade schools. He was a proud graduate of Neosho High School and later attended Crowder College. In October 1970, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Ron served honorably during the Vietnam War, with deployments in both Vietnam and Thailand, and was discharged in December 1974.
Following his military service, Ron began a 40-year career at La-Z-Boy, where his dedication and work ethic were well respected. As a young man, he enjoyed playing softball with friends and later made the courageous decision to stop drinking, a choice that reflected his strength and commitment to his family and faith.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and most of all, spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren. His grandchildren lovingly called him “Grumpy” and they brought him great joy. He was also a faithful member of Neosho Christian Church, where he was actively involved in the life of the congregation.
On October 26, 1971, Ron married the love of his life, Peggy (Lankford) Becknell, who survives. Additional survivors include two sons: Adam (Shannon) Becknell of Willard, MO, and Nathan (Rachel Dobbs) Becknell of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren: Clara, Robert, Lauren, Colton, Addison, Rowan, and Clairence; one sister, Phyllis Blackwood of Neosho, MO; one brother, Randy (Margie) Becknell of Troy, MO; and numerous in-laws: Pat and Gary Cohu, Larry and Carol Lankford, Pam and Kenneth Link, and Garry and Cathy Lankford, all of Neosho, MO.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Pam Gould; brother-in-law, Bob Blackwood; and father- and mother-in-law, Ray and Avis Lankford.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Neosho Christian Church, with a graveside service to follow at New Salem Cemetery. Ron will be laid to rest with full military honors in recognition of his service to our country. Cory Knight, Brent Lankford, Eric Lankford, Randy Becknell, Andy Olbrey, and Josh Lewis will serve as Pall Bearers. Gary Lankford, Larry Lankford, Will Cook, Robert Becknell, and Colton Becknell will serve as Honorary Pall Bearers.
Ron’s life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering commitment, and deep love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
