Wayne Martin

Wilmer Wayne Martin, age 77, Joplin, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025 at his home.

Wayne was born July 8, 1948 in Patterson, MO, one of thirteen children born to the late Earl Monte Martin and Zella Norma (Buxton) Martin. He grew up in Ellington, MO where he attended school and worked on his family sawmill. He has lived in Kansas and Missouri most of his adult life during and following his career in excavating. He was owner and operator of M & H Construction specializing in excavation work up until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing old country songs which he did throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.




Wayne is survived by his children, Lynn Riley (Doug) of Peoria, OK, Tim Martin (Laurie) of Joplin, MO, James Martin of Key West, FL, Jennifer Golden of Joplin, MO, and Amanda Udeze (Charles) of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren, Dakota Riley, Doug Riley, Denee Riley, Whitley Evans, Gavin Evans, Jaylee Williams, Malik Williams, Keondre Martin, and Laylah Roseburr; 11 great-grandchildren.

Burial of his ashes will be at a later date in Ellington, MO with his family.


Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
