Betty Goade



Betty Maxine (Shank) Goade, age 91, died on August 8, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Betty was born on July 27, 1934, in Granby Missouri; the daughter of Melvin (Pete) Shank & Pauline (Smith) Shank.








Betty grew up in Granby, Missouri, and married Allan (Gene) Goade on November 1, 1951, and celebrated 73 years in 2024. They lived outside of Granby on the Shank family farm. Shank Farms and Greenhouses was established 1929. As the 4th generation of this family business, she was a vital part of its operations and success. She established Flowers by Shanks in 1972, a full-service floral shop specializing in weddings and catering services. Betty and Gene moved to the Lake area in 1989, where for 36 years they lived in Rocky Mount, Osage Beach, and Camdenton. Betty moved to Albuquerque in 2025 after Genes death.

During her “Granby/Farm Years” she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Granby, MO and active in numerous events and activities involving church, business, community and school. During her “Lake Years” she was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, Osage Beach and was a volunteer for many years at Hope House, Lake Regional Medical Center, and the Senior Activities Center of Osage Beach.

Betty’s greatest pleasures in life were her family, friends, food and traveling. She was always the organizer of family get-togethers, events for friends, church and community, lending her love for food and fellowship to create many special occasions and cherished memories for all.

She is survived by 3 children; Debbie (Goade) Thomas and husband Dave, Louisville, KY, Mike Goade and wife Cyndi, Albuquerque, NM and Steve Goade and wife Lori, Parsons, KS. Three Grandchildren; Eric Boles, Aurora, IL, Alex (Goade) Johnson, Albuquerque, NM, Shelly (Goade) Phillips, Galena, KS. Five Great Grandchildren; Mackenzie & Cooper Boles, Cody Spaitz, Micheal & Ben Rogers; and one Great-Great Grandchild: Isaac Rogers. One brother; Paul Shank, Jefferson City, MO. and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents Pete & Pauline Shank and brother Bill Shank.








There will be a Celebration of Life at the Riverview Baptist Church, in Osage Beach, MO on Saturday, October18, 2025. Time TBA.
