(From Daniel Funeral Home)
Boyce David Hawes, age 67, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by his family.
Boyce was born June 9, 1958, in Portland, Indiana, to Alvin Daniel Hawes and Florence Elveta (Robert) Hawes. He graduated from Lamar High School with the class of 1976.
Boyce knew no strangers, he loved to talk and tell stories of all his many adventures, from building, riding, racing bikes it was truly a passion. He was a daredevil that loved to feel the power of a good burn out or to see how far he could wheelie his bikes. Which was a strong second to his first passion which was his family, he loved when all his grandkids would stop by to see him, it would be part of his story that week. He was especially thrilled about having 3 little girls (Maggie, Ella, Indie) join the family this summer.
The two times of the year he loved the most were the fair and Halloween. He loved giving out BIG candy bars and never passed up a chance to wear a costume. He really was just a big kid at heart. When not hanging out with or doing the above, you could find him singing in his band The Hangovers or going to watch one of his many friend's bands. He also enjoyed playing pool and teaching young kids to play pool. He loved trips to MoKan to see his racing buddies or run a bike.
Survivors include two sons, Rusty (Lynzi) Hawes and Eddie “Opie” McDowell (Sierra Hurt); two daughters, Annie Hawes (Davy Crockett) and Marlee (James) Mathia; nine grandchildren, Tyanna (Caleb), Ayden (Jillian), Rudy, Rowdy, Rio, Delacour, Wednesday, Gage, and Ella; two great-grandchildren, Maggie Kay and Indie Rose; three sisters, Paula (Donald) Satkin, Tricia Brandt (Allen Raugh), and Jackie (Kevin) Chandler; as well as many cherished friends who will deeply miss him.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to help the family with funeral expenses and may be made payable to Daniel Funeral Home.
