(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Rebecca Valencia Fite, 73, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born in Hayward, California, on January 7, 1952. She has lived in Carthage for a long time and worked at Leggett and Platt as a data entry clerk.
She was an avid reader, loved to garden, to an interest in windchimes and other whimsical things. She enjoyed spending time with her family who meant the world to her. She took her grandkids on many walks through the park and just really enjoyed being outside camping, cooking out and listening and dancing to music, a lot of Aerosmith.
She was united in marriage to Monty Fite on March 18, 2025, in Reno, Nevada; he survives.
She is survived by her sons Christopher Salazar of Indiahoma, Oklahoma, and Daniel Salazar (Taylor) of Vacaville, California; a brother, Bobby Hernandez; three sisters, Sally Marin (Johnny) of Newark, California, Gloria Garcia of Boise, Idaho, and Rosemary Aguirre of Union City, California; and two grandchildren, Cameron Salazar and Alayna Salazar.
She was preceded in death by her parents Salvador and Julia Valencia Hernandez; her brother, Salvador Hernandez Jr.; her sister, Alice Duran; and a brother-in-law, Paul Duran.
There will be a funeral service for Rebecca at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage.
