(From Parker Mortuary)Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Fortuck, age 77, of Joplin, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Larry was born on December 23, 1947 in Pueblo, CO to the late union of Robert & Mary Frances (Lawrence) Fortuck. He was a 1965 graduate of Joplin High School and also served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Joplin Freightliner for more than 50 years, starting off sweeping the floors and working his way up to general manager. He married Nancy Clemens on May 25 1995.
Larry was a man of diverse interests. He had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing musical instruments, to collecting just about anything that could be collected. He was an avid fan of Disney, Star Wars, and country music. He enjoyed traveling with Nancy and attending shows in Branson. Christmas was Larry’s favorite holiday, and he found joy in watching the excitement of his family, especially his grandkids, and his great grandkids. Always by his side was his loyal best friend, Coco.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Fortuck, and one granddaughter, Crystal.
Larry is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Horine (Jeff), and Lori Fleming (William); one step-son Jack Cook; eight grandchildren, Dustin Coppenbarger (Beth), Hillary Coppenbarger, Shane Horine (Jordan), Nicholas Horine (Brendan), Kiefer Fortuck (Hope), Amber Fleming (Kenny), Victoria Fleming, and Jake Cook; eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ralph Fortuck (Elin).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Father Brian Straus officiating. Burial of ashes to be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
